Documentary storytelling.

Through Islamic ethics.

The ummah builds, gives, creates and serves every day. Much of that work happens quietly. Behind the scenes. Without an audience.

With OVLXI, we consciously join you behind the scenes.

OVLXI exists to document what is there.

We make micro-documentaries for Islamic organisations and entrepreneurs.

Behind all of them are people. Their work. Their dedication. Their choices. Their intentions.

These are the things we want to document.

We make documentaries. Not to buy attention, but to earn trust. Not to entertain, but to connect. Not to sell, but to show what is really there.

We document purpose.

The OVLXI method

Every organisation has a story. Not every story should be told the same way. Our approach combines documentary storytelling, journalistic observation and Islamic ethics. We don't start by asking how to get more attention. We start by asking what is worth showing.

Islamic ethics first

Islamic ethics guide the entire production. From the first conversation to the final edit, we consider how people are represented, what is shown and how the story is presented. Modesty. Sincerity. Dignity. These are not additions to the process. They are part of it.

Real people. Real stories.

No actors. No artificial personas. No scripted marketing language. We speak with the people behind the organisation and document them in their own environment, in their own words. We don't ask people to become more interesting for the camera. We give them space to be themselves.

No music.

We believe the story should carry its own emotion. The human voice. The sound of a room. Footsteps. Conversation. Silence. Nothing needs to tell the viewer what they are supposed to feel. When background sound is used, we do so according to Islamic rulings.

No sensation

We don't use controversy to create attention. No exaggerated claims. No dramatic editing simply to provoke emotion. No making something look bigger than it is. Some work speaks for itself. We believe it should be allowed to.

No performance.

We don't manufacture moments. No staged reactions. No invented dialogue. No pretending something happened when it didn't. The camera observes. The people live their story.

Deliverables.

What you get.

It starts without a camera. We begin with a conversation. No complicated brief. No pressure to perform. Just a chance to understand what you are doing and why. From there, we find the story that is already there. We film on location, quietly and without unnecessary interruption. After filming, we shape the material into the documentary and give you the opportunity to review how you are represented before the final version is delivered. Simple. Human. Respectful.

De micro-documentaire.

A cinematic documentary of approximately 90 – 180 seconds. Focused on the people, values and purpose behind your organisation, project or business. Perfect for websites, presentations and social media. A timeless documentary that you can use for years to come. Adapted to your main audience.

Social media snippets

2–3 short vertical edits derived from the documentary. Created for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and WhatsApp sharing. Designed to increase visibility while remaining consistent with the documentary's tone and message. This way you can reach your audience trough broader channels.

Cinematic stills.

A selection of high-quality still images captured during filming. Suitable for websites, brochures, presentations and social media communication.

A story that builds trust

More than a video. We provide a documentary that helps your community, supporters, customers or donors better understand who you are, what you do and why it matters.

Help shape the first generation

OVLXI is currently looking for a small number of pioneering organisations and entrepreneurs who wish to help shape the first generation of OVLXI documentaries. We are looking for work that has substance behind it. A mission. A story. People who care about what they are building. If you believe your work deserves to be documented rather than simply promoted, let's talk.
